Simple Tips for a Safe July 4th Holiday

By July 3, 2026No Comments

A little preparation goes a long way in protecting your home, family, and guests:

  • Leave fireworks to the pros: Backyard fireworks cause thousands of injuries and home fires each year. Attending a public show is always the safest bet.

  • Master the grill safely: Keep your grill at least 10 feet away from your house, deck railings, and overhanging branches. Never leave a lit grill unattended.

  • Secure your pets: Loud fireworks can terrify animals. Keep your pets indoors in a quiet, secure room to prevent them from running away.

  • Review your coverage: Before hosting a big backyard party or taking your boat out on Lake Erie, make sure your homeowners and watercraft insurance policies are up to date.

Have a happy, safe, and wonderful Independence Day!
